Sudip Chattopadhyay & Subrata Gupta
Born in 1966, Sudip was groomed under the auspices of Pandit Debaprosad Banerjee, the senior most disciple of Pandit Gour Goswami. Sudip is acknowledged to be one of the perfect exponents of Pandit Pannalal Ghosh Gharana.
He has done MA in music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, graduating in 1991 and was also selected as a Lecturer of Music in the same University in 2002.
In 1991 he joined All India Radio and still working as an ‘A Grade’ artiste at All India Radio and Doordarshan. Sudip has performed in National Programme of Music; his steadiness in rendition, clarity and precision of Swara, rare combination of Raga perfectly elaborated in gradual progression with variety of notes – is truly unique.
He has been performing regularly at various important Classical Concerts; notables are Dover Lane Periodical Music Conference, Sangeet Research Academy, Indira Kala Sangeet Sikshayatan (MP), Bharatiya Bidya Bhawan (New Delhi), Rabindra Bharati Festival, West Bengal Raiya Saneet Academy Classical Conference, ICCR (Kolkata & Delhi), SPICMACAY, Golpark Ramakrishna Mission etc. He had performed in European Countries like Netherland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and France etc – received accolades from western audiences & European media.
One of the leading percussionists of India, a “GANDA BANDH” sagird of the legendary Tabla Maestro Pt. Shankar Ghosh, Subrata is an accomplished and versatile Tabla player. He is a soloist and an accompanist as well.
Subrata is a regular artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra (Kolkata). He is also a well-recognized and much wanted accompanist by most of the leading musicians and prestigious classical soirees all over the country.
