ABOUT SAMUEL KLEMKE

klemke_00004Samuel T. Klemke is a German classical guitarist. Born into a musical family, he got his first guitar lessons from his father Tobias Klemke when he was four years old. At the age of ten he won his fist national competition followed by many more. Samuel studied at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar with Prof. Monika Rost and Prof. Thomas Müller-Pering, receiving three degrees: the Artistic Diploma, the Concert Exam and the Concert Exam Chamber music together with his sister Laura as a guitar duo. He was awarded more than 25 international prizes all over the world and gained special scholarships for example to explore the music by Henze and Takemitsu. Next to his solo career Samuel T. Klemke is also an active chamber musician, performing as the Guitar Duo Klemke with his sister Laura, a founding member of the vanguard Ensemble Marges and different other music combinations with Flute, Violin, Piano, voice etc.

Samuel T. Klemke has toured most parts of the worlds, from Europe to the Americas, Australia and Asia to give more than 1000 concerts and teach masterclasses.

So far he released six CDs, one live DVD and a single. Samuel also appeared on different TV and radio programmes and was chosen for the cover of the „Guitar no tomo“ magazine. He also contributed music to short movies and tries to find new ways of presenting music by exploring cooperations with different artists or silent movies.

In 2014 the idea of a Global Guitar Institute (GGI) was born as an initiative to promote the classical guitar, focusing on the Asian countries. In 2015 the GGI had its first events with workshops in Indonesia and a Summer Guitar Camp in Weimar / Germany.
